What can we do for Pando?

Power-Ups are interactions that viewers can request using Bits. Twitch recently enabled this feature for third-party developers, but there's no real incentive for devs to build anything, or is there?

Why extension developers aren't building Power-Ups

Unlike Bits-in-Extension, Power-Ups don't support the standard 20% Bits cut. That means building an alternative interaction using Bits would put developers in direct competition with their own revenue. Not exactly an easy sell.

On the other hand, custom Power-Ups get better visibility on stream and could attract much more attention. So even without the usual cut, it's worth exploring how your chat reacts to something new.

How Pando powers up

We think it's worth exploring. Power-Ups will get full support from Pando, and on release, the experience will feel a lot like Bits-in-Extension: hydrate, treat, play, and pet, all triggerable straight from chat with Bits.

We'll be keeping a close eye on how it performs once it's live, and we'd love to hear from you if there's anything you'd want changed or added.

How can we do this with Pando?

This comes down to one of Pando's exclusive features: we're the only Twitch extension with a subscription revenue model, and that holds for Power-Ups too. Because Pando VIP already brings in revenue outside of Bits, we're not stuck choosing between building a great feature and protecting our revenue.
