The dog & cat pets

Dogs and cats are must-have stream pets

By now, we had two streaming pets available, and we were gaining popularity among Twitch creators. We were receiving a lot of requests and suggestions. Some were about features, but by far, they were about adding cats and all different kinds of dog breeds. A lot of adorable pictures were shared on Discord.

The origin story

The cat story was a no-brainer. Make a cat model, make it do what cats do, and have various types of colors and patterns. Picking the dog, however, was a personal decision. It was to become our dog, Guusje, an old English Bulldog. She already made an appearance in our announcement video, which is a story in itself. Here are some of the pictures we shared with the artist.

How it was designed & selected

For the dog model, we recorded and shared content to get it exactly how we wanted, because she was more than just a pet in Pando. We wanted a place to remember her. Guusje was already old by then, and she passed away not long after. Here is some of the recorded content that was used.

We also requested funny references where possible. Like catJAM, a well-known emote used by Twitch chat.

On release, the new update also included pet and play animations for all pet models to support free features in the Twitch extension (Pet Café), allowing everyone to enjoy the extension, not just those spending Bits.
